One more step towards better access to technical information in the EU!
On 16 June 2011, the European Commission enacted a legislative package which brings important changes to the existing Euro 5/6 Regulation. FIGIEFA welcomes the adoption of the Commission’s amendments. Thanks to its package, the EU legislator intends to open up the access to the so crucially needed parts identification data and to improve other technical information facilitating effective competition in the automotive aftermarket.
Below you will find detailed information on the background of the parts identification data issue, what it is and why this data is so important for the spare parts and repair market: for the safety of vehicles and their compliance with environmental standards, for the competitiveness of more than 800.000 SMEs in the automotive aftermarket and, most importantly for the 260 million motorist consumers in the EU.
